HI, I’M ROGER, THE PERSON BEHIND ROGER THAT PICTURES

I'm a Melbourne-based independent documentary filmmaker, video content creator and photographer. After studying film and TV foundations at the Victorian College of the Arts, I have spent over 10 years refining my skills whilst working on multiple documentary and video production projects.

My work spans directing, producing, shooting and editing documentaries aired on SBS to creating video content for World of Wonder Productions. I’ve created client videos for BMW, eBay, RSPCA, Moet and KPMG, as well as diverse online video content for social enterprise Scarf.

My work has taken me to many cities in Australia (Sydney, Cairns, Hobart) and the world (Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Beirut).

I take great pride in my work and have been commended for my thoughtful approach to storytelling. After working in video production for over a decade, in recent years I’ve discovered that documentary filmmaking is my true passion and have become a frequent delegate of the AIDC (Australian International Documentary Conference). Bringing an idea to life is what drives me; I love nothing more than telling stories that are engaging and entertaining.

In my documentary filmmaking I endeavour to open the audience to worlds and ideas they are yet to explore. The themes in my films aim to stimulate curiosity and inspire connection. My hope is that they encourage new perspectives and lead to thoughtful conversation.

As a full member of the Australian Cinematographers Society, I have a love for creating eye-catching and bold images that add depth to my work. Cinematography has always been a big part of what I do and an important aspect of my skill set.

When a great story is married with great visuals, there is nothing better.
